Windows 8.1 Update for x64-based Systems (KB2919355)

Installation status: Failed

Error details: Code 800F0922

System got to 89% then said it couldn't complete the updates and that it would back out the updates.  15 minutes later, I'm back where I started.

Is it possible windows defender or other virus scanner blocked this update?

    Hi Karel,

I'm facing a problem extending the reserved partition. In my laptop, the partition is not visible on the graphical disk management utility. It is not associated with a 'volume' either, so I can't use diskpart (see log below) & the options to re-size/move it are grayed out on MiniTool (I can see the partition, but cannot take any action on it).

    DISKPART> sel disk 0

Disk 0 is now the selected disk.

    DISKPART> lis par

      Partition ###  Type              Size     Offset

      -------------  ----------------  -------  -------

      Partition 1    Recovery           400 MB  1024 KB

      Partition 2    System             260 MB   401 MB

      Partition 3    Reserved           128 MB   661 MB

      Partition 4    Primary            668 GB  1685 MB

      Partition 5    Recovery           350 MB   670 GB

      Partition 6    Primary             28 GB   670 GB

    DISKPART> lis vol

Volume ###  Ltr     Label           Fs      Type          Size     Status     Info

      ----------        ---    -----------  -----    ----------  -------  ---------  --------

      Volume 0        E                                   DVD-ROM         0 B  No Media

Volume 1        C                         NTFS Partition    668 GB  Healthy    Boot

Volume 2        D     RECOVERY  NTFS Partition     28 GB  Healthy

Volume 3                WINRE        NTFS Partition    400 MB  Healthy    Hidden

Volume 4                                   FAT32 Partition    260 MB  Healthy    System

Volume 5                                   NTFS  Partition    350 MB  Healthy    Hidden

    DISKPART> sel par 3

Partition 3 is now the selected partition.

    DISKPART> extend size=896

    There is no volume selected.

Please select a volume and try again.

    DISKPART>

    Please help!

    Thanks

Using logic gets me into trouble with Microsoft products.  However, it seems to me that MS knows the size of the partitions on a GPT machine.  Don't they control them?  Why would they then produce an update which needs more space in an essentially hidden partition?  I cannot believe that KB2919355 fails on every machine, therefore, why does it fail on mine?  I have a Dell XPS 8700.  My wife has a Dell laptop and it worked OK on her machine.

When I was online chatting with support, the tech said he could fix my problem remotely if I paid $99.

If Microsoft knows the fix, why not post it?  Why try to hold me up?
