Windows 7 x64 bit very slow boot & performance

I have a windows 7 x64 bit with 6 gb ram installed and it boots very slow, and get a lot (and by that I mean A LOOOT) of freezes. Especially on Firefox/Waterfox (this might be software related, not the same problem as the OS one).

I have Malwarebytes installed and found no problems (except a PUP in a firefox file)

Comments on results:

Users –My computer has more than one internal drive bay and I store a lot of my user files on another drive.

System Volume Information –You should expand this section in Treesize to see how your figure is made up. It is quite possible that you are retaining System Restore points long after they are really useful.

Program Files (x86) - Both results are much the same.

?? Files - You should expand this section in Treesize to see how your figure is made up. If your figure is substantially two files, pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys, you need do nothing. Both these files are sized on the basis of the amount of installed RAM. As you have 6gb RAM it would appear that you are not using hibernation and as a consequence do not have a hiberfil.sys file.

Program Data –The difference in results does not merit any comment.

Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp to empty your Recycle Bin, remove Temporary Internet Files and other selected options. I also recommend you click on the More Options tab, System Restore and remove all but the latest System Restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Removing System Restore points can be important if you have limited free disk space. The ability to remove them is one of the Tools options. You can selectively remove those created at less important times. This makes it easier to hold restore points for longer periods without retaining large unwanted files, which the inflexible approach adopted by Disk CleanUp fails to offer.

What is your computer make and model? If not a branded computer what is your motherboard make and model?

When you remove devices you should use Safely Remove or you risk causing file corruption.

Please download and run ADWCleaner and post a copy of the report produced:

I suggest you take the precaution of creating a system restore point before running ADWCleaner, to guard against unforeseen consequences. Select Start, Control Panel, System, System Protection, and click the Create button.

Please use Autoruns to delete 21 entries ( could be more as a result of using ADW Cleaner) where the words “File not found” appear. With Autoruns you can uncheck an item, which disables it from starting, or you can right click an item and then delete it. Click the Everything tab and look for the rows highlighted in yellow.

To investigate disk space usage download, install and run Treesize (freeware) as Administrator.

Place a shortcut to Treesize on your Desktop, right click the icon and select Run as Administrator to open Treesize. You need to run as Administrator to see all files. When you open Treesize select Scan from the Menu and you will see a list of drives. Click on C and it will generate a list of Folders.

Post the names and the sizes of the 6 largest folders and the total at the top of the list.

What is your computer make and model? If not a branded computer what is your motherboard make and model?

When you remove devices you should use Safely Remove or you risk causing file corruption.

Please download and run ADWCleaner and post a copy of the report produced:

I suggest you take the precaution of creating a system restore point before running ADWCleaner, to guard against unforeseen consequences. Select Start, Control Panel, System, System Protection, and click the Create button.

Please use Autoruns to delete 21 entries ( could be more as a result of using ADW Cleaner) where the words “File not found” appear. With Autoruns you can uncheck an item, which disables it from starting, or you can right click an item and then delete it. Click the Everything tab and look for the rows highlighted in yellow.

To investigate disk space usage download, install and run Treesize (freeware) as Administrator.

Place a shortcut to Treesize on your Desktop, right click the icon and select Run as Administrator to open Treesize. You need to run as Administrator to see all files. When you open Treesize select Scan from the Menu and you will see a list of drives. Click on C and it will generate a list of Folders.

Post the names and the sizes of the 6 largest folders and the total at the top of the list.
