Windows 8.1 Tiles Does not Update and shows Arrow-Down Signs

Hello,

I remember I installed Avast Free 2014, then maybe afterwards it caused my apps to show those arrow down signs and not be 'live'. Is it really because of Avast Antivirus?

The Apps Troubleshooter cannot help me.

I had installed Windows 8.1 and had this problem.

Simply uninstalled and then re-installed each one and now the problem is gone.

THIS is the solution to the problem.

You have to manually delete and reinstall each and every app that doesnt't update on its own. Only Microsoft apps show this problem, all the other ones do not need to be reinstalled.

Please note that this problem is NOT related, in any way, with Avast.

    I also have this problem. I had problems with internet explorer but after java updated itself is now fine.

    the tiles are still not updating. I also have avast but I'm not sure if it's causing the problems.

    I'm having this problem too. I too had installed avast Internet security 2014, but everything was fine. Today all of a sudden i get this issue. My firewall settings is set to allow all Microsoft/windows connections. Both your suggestions haven't helped. Uninstalling avast didnt do the trick either. I highly doubt it has anything to do with avast.

    I noticed that live tile works only for the Store app.

    Can I try wsreset is Run(Win+r)??

    Or restore to a earlier restore point??

    Else I believe a refresh is the only way to fix this. Will I have to reinstall all the drivers if i refresh my PC? Any suggestion as to what all I'll have to reconfigure/reinstall after a refresh would be helpful.

    yes, AVAST 2014 has nothing to do with it. Not even the malware samples that I downloaded maybe. I think the issue is about more Windows account connection with Microsoft. At least that is what I discovered from running the:

    microsoftaccounts.exe troubleshooter

    Please download that tool.

    You can also download:

    AppsDiagnostic.exe troublehooter.

    I could not provide the links though.

    BUT, Windows could not fix the issues. I had to reinstall.

    I think this is Microsoft's problem and not ours. It's there apps, their unexplained little arrow and who gives a flying fig.

    I am not wasting my time re-installing Windows 8.1 and if you uninstall just the apps, they don't fully uninstall.

    There are numerous bugs in Win8.1 and MS should fix them not users.

    Here's my suggestion, since no one apparently from MS is listening to this forum, open each app and send feedback like this or whatever suits you.

    "Small arrow in lower right shows tiles are not updating or what????"

    Some of the apps don't have a feedback button, which is an app quality issue, I sent the feedback as a "Rate and Review"

    "Why does this app not have a feedback option? Facebook does.

    How does MS get bug feature issues?"
