Windows 8.1 Tiles Does not Update and shows Arrow-Down Signs

Hello,

I remember I installed Avast Free 2014, then maybe afterwards it caused my apps to show those arrow down signs and not be 'live'. Is it really because of Avast Antivirus?

The Apps Troubleshooter cannot help me.

I had installed Windows 8.1 and had this problem.

Simply uninstalled and then re-installed each one and now the problem is gone.

THIS is the solution to the problem.

You have to manually delete and reinstall each and every app that doesnt't update on its own. Only Microsoft apps show this problem, all the other ones do not need to be reinstalled.

Please note that this problem is NOT related, in any way, with Avast.

    Hi All, I had similar problem after upgrading from Window 8.0 to Windows 8.1 and with Avast 2014, some of the LIVE tiles went dead and showed a down arrow. Somehow, I found the solution by un-installing the app and re-installing from the store. Everything is working fine, the damn arrow has gone and tiles do live update.

    Have the same same problem. Just occurred suddenly. Also have Avast 14.

    I was able to resolved it by uninstalling the apps, then reinstalling them. Sometimes, they will not re install. but after a few tries, they all reinstalled. Now tiles are all live, w/o the downward arrows.

    This is NOT an Avast problem! I do not have Avast on my LapTop but I was having the same problem with arrows in the tiles of some Apps that I was having on my Desktop. Just to be sure I uninstalled Avast from my Desktop as well, but the arrows were still there..

    A bit of a pain to fix, but what worked for me on both computers was to uninstall the Apps that had the arrows, and re-install them and all arrows went away... Not too hard to do if you uninstall the Apps with the arrows and then select ALL to install again and it works..
