Windows 8.1 Update is not appearing in the Windows Store

Admittedly, Apples are constructed more with the preferences of the totally helpless, totally ignorant user in mind.  However, even most of those users, generally small children and the drug-addled, when they are unable to solve a problem with their units (and the few Apple products I own, mostly iPods, have frequent issues), have the residual cleverness to call user support for help.

Why not try that first and see if your problem may be surmountable.  Mine were.  They respond quickly and pleasantly.  In the USA, that support number is 877-254-4698.  If you are located elsewhere, the phone number for support is listed on the web page located at http://support.microsoft.com/gp/esd-support-phone-numbers .

Tried everyone and nothing is working to update it to 8.1 This is the worst thing ever created. Far worse than any apple laptop I've used. I have no choice but to return this and switch to apple. It's really upsetting because I was hooked on windows specially windows7

I managed to solve the issue by simply making sure my pc was fully up to date and when I did this the windows 8.1 showed up in my store plus a lot of other problems were solved. I didn't realise that my pc wasn't up to date until I went to settings, change pc settings then went to windows update and clicked check updates then its just the matter of installing them. I really hope this helps some of you because this was a problem that made me think of getting a new pc.

There are several reasons why you might not see the Windows 8.1 Update in the Windows Store, if  you are having trouble finding Windows 8.1, please review each item below and verify it does not apply to you.  After running through the list and the steps below you still are not seeing Windows 8.1 update in the Store, we would like you to post a reply in this thread with the following information at the bottom.  Some of this information is also Detailedhere

1.      If you are running the Preview version of Windows 8.1,you should go here and follow the instructions to start the install process

2.      Ensure you have installed all pending Windows Updates.  

3.      If you are running a Windows Enterprise Edition or Volume License version of Windows Pro you must speak to your system administer about how to update

4.      If you are using a Multiple Activation Product Key through a Commercial or MSDN contact, you must run update using media obtained through those programs

5**.**Note if you are running Windows RT you should please check **this post**

 

Microsoft is aware the following can also cause the update to not appear in the Windows Store or may assist with resolution

6.      If update KB 2871389 is installed.   First try uninstalling then check for updates again and reinstall it    

7.      The Windows Store Catalog is not refreshing correctly.  To correct this press Windows and R key together to open run box, type WSReset.exe and hit Enter   then reboot and check the Windows Store

8.    If you are having issues with installing Windows Update we recommend you post for help with that issue.    You may also attempt an automated fix by running the Windows Update troubleshooter here

9. Sync your  App License:

• On the Start screen, tap or click Store to open the Windows Store.
• Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Settings.

(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Settings.)

• Tap or click App updates.
• Tap or click Sync licenses.

10.  There are reports from some in this scenario  that once they run the Upgrade Assistant for 8.1  they are able to begin the update

If none of these are the cause of your issue, please post that you are still having the problem and the following information from the dxdiag tool

I tried the above link but it still says you cant download windows from here.. go to app. store and theres no update for windows 8.1. its so funny..

Please Note point 6 ie uninstall KB2871389 and re-install that fixed it for me thanks
