Hi,
I just updated to Windows 8.1 last night. All went fine. Once it had finished it booted to windows normally. I then decided to restart the computer just to make sure everything was okay and sorted.
It took me to the normal login screen. My Keyboard and Mouse didn't work?! I check all of my peripherals and non of the USB devices were working. I have tried multiple times to restart and try different USB's to no avail. I have tried a bog standard keyboard and mouse and even a PS2 slot keyboard and non of this has worked.
Any help on what I can do without losing all of my data?

I found a solution that worked for me. If you try this, hopefully it will work!

I have found a solution to the problem via a person from another forum with the same issue. All credit goes to him for finding this out. If you try what he says it should work fine. It did for me

I had the same issue and in my case, besides disabling the XHCI mode, I had to completely uninstall an ASUS Suite II software package that had drivers that were incompatible with Windows 8.1. It took me many hours to figure this out, but now everything is working.
Just in case, I was able to find the issue using a PS2 mouse and the virtual keyboard, since the issues were on USB drivers.

Just bought a Toshiba Satellite C50D-A with Win 8 pre-installed. Upgraded to 8.1 was done (no to easy but its done) and now the keybosrd dosen't work anymore. The mouse is OK as all the rest. Tried an wireless keyboard, same ****.
Now how can I open the BIOS (F2) without a working keyboard?
Any help would be welcome. I stuck now, cannot finalize the Win 8.1 setup.

Your keyboard is ok. It is Win8.1 that is sick.
Think about it - the keyboard was ok with Win8.
You will find that your keyboard will be ok when you edit the bios.
Why is it that victims blame themslves?
Why do we assume that the fault is in our keyboards?
When, all the time, the fault is with Win8.1
or should we say: the fault is with the organisation which released it
and advised us to "upgrade" to this faulty software
which, obviously, had not been adequately tested

Going to return the laptop to the store before the end of the 14 day return / trial. I don't want to keep it because | hate Win 8 and I find Win 8.1 a bit better but this laptop cannot handle it.
