KB2887595 update problem, "Failure configuring Windows updates-undoing changes".

Hi,

When I try to apply KB2887595 after the restart I get this message: "Failure configuring Windows updates-undoing changes".How to resolve it?

    Hi all,

    I have the same problem installing this KB. I have just checked the logs (%WINDIR%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log) and found out that KB2887595 has problems with Hyper-V feature which is installed on my Windows.

    I remove that feature (Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off, uncheck Hyper-V), then restart.

    Then I add that feature again, then restart, again.

    Re-install the update, wow, it run smoothly without any problem. Yeah!

    I can confirm that Hyper-V is a part of the problem. Even though it was not enabled here, I tried to enable Hyper-V and Reinstalled the KB2887595 update, and it installed with no problem :-)

    After that i disabled Hyper-V and everything is ok.

    That's interesting. Both my computers had trouble with this update and both had had Hyper-V activated - but I had disabled Hyper-V on both just before this update (swapped to virtualbox).

    Also can confirm Hyper V is part of the problem.

    Had HyperV installed and disabled because I wanted to use VMWorkstation. Result the Update did not work.

    Enabled HyperV again - And the Update worked fine.

    Hi all,

    I can confirm that this fault is related to Hyper-V. Had this feature installed and removed it again due to using VMware instead. So this KB was not able to get installed as noted above.

    Now re-installed this feature and was now able to apply the patch.

    To continue working with VMware its required to de-install the Hyper-V feature again.

    I'll keep this work around in my mind for the future, crossing my fingers thats not happen again.

    Maybe Microsoft is providing a reason for this issue to prevent this for the future.
