KB2887595 update problem, "Failure configuring Windows updates-undoing changes".

This issue may surface either because of a network congestion due to too many updates trying to get connected to update server at the same time or else due to out of date Windows Update Agent.

I would recommend you to install one update at a time and check.

After you click on “Check for Updates” wait for some time till Windows finishes checking for recent Updates and click on “View details”, now select one Update at a time and try to install.

It will also be helpful if you can verify your Windows Update Agent version. To do that follow the steps below:

1. Open the %systemroot%\system32 folder. %systemroot% is the folder in which Windows is installed. For example, the*%systemroot%* folder is C:\Windows. 
2. Right-click Wuapi.dll, and then click Properties.
3. Click the Details tab, and then locate the file version number. 

Perform the above steps and update us on the status of the issue.

I have tried this many times. My internet connection is fine and all other updates download and  execute without a hitch.

I have also manually downloaded KB2887595 x64 version from the ms download site - it still fails to install (in clean and regular boot mode).

The Wuapi.dll file version number is 7.9.9600.16384

    I have the same problem(80070057) with you and I have tried all the things that you have done. Same as you, none of them works.

    In the Chinese Microsoft Community, one person says that this patch is not for windows 8.1 and provide this link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=41076 . This is the page for Windows Server 2012's KB2887595, but it is strange that the patch file in this page is also called KB2887595. I download this patch and finally it successfully updated.

   Maybe Microsoft have mixed up these two patches.

I tried these but again the installation failed. The file did appear to be exactly the same one.

I am having the same problem since yesterday.  I have tried everything listed in this post and attached threads.  I am going to wait for a fix from Microsoft I suppose.

This finally installed successfully for me this morning. All I did differently was to run the windows update troubleshooter that is available in the control panel for windows update problems before trying the update again.

I don't know whether this cleared the problem or whether MS have sorted it.
