KB2887595 update problem, "Failure configuring Windows updates-undoing changes".

Actually,they found an issue but I think it has nothing to do with our problem here; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2887595

"After you install this update on a computer that has certain drivers installed (including Rtbth.sys and Netr28x.sys), the computer may crash. Additionally, you receive an AV_NULL_IP_BTHUSB!USBD_CreateHandle error message.

We are working with the driver manufacturer to resolve this issue. For now, Windows Update does not offer this update for computers that have certain drivers installed (including Rtbth.sys and Netr28x.sys)."

I have a similar problem

cant install KB2883200

cant install KB2887595

After installing the important updates the host reboots.

After rebooting the updates are reported as failed.

I downloaded and installed KB2883200 manually.

AVIRA reports it to have a Malware:

Virus or unwanted program 'TR/Mediyes.Gen [trojan]'

detected in file 'C:\Windows\WinSxS\Temp\PendingRenames\7d150bbbccedce01700d0000b808080e.x86_microsoft-windows-kernelstreaming_31bf3856ad364e35_6.3.9600.16395_none_ec16b73cb184e5d3_ks.sys_f36cc2f7.

Action performed: Deny access

I opened a case at AVIRA to check if it was a FALSE ALARM.

Unfortunately AVIRA states it is NOT A FALSE ALARM.

I did not check for KB2887595 manually.

Both updates continue to NOT BE INSTALLABLE and remain on the

important updates list.

I have attempted to apply KB2887595 four times. Each time windows will reboot and apply the updates, but then the system hangs with a black screen and a Personalized Settings (not responding) dialog box at top left corner. I needed to do system restore to earlier point and disable windows automatic update.

Thanks for posting the fix about enabling Hyper-V it worked for me. It also allowed me to install the mouse lag update KB2908279.

ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution sdold123 

At this point I get an "Access denied" error message, although I'm using the command window as admin.

I ran into a similar problem with the "ren %systemroot%\System32\catroot2 cr2old123" command.  It turned out that the bits service was being turned back on for some reason.  When I retyped the "net stop bits" and quickly followed it with the "ren %systemroot%\System32\catroot2 cr2old123" command, it worked.
