devices and Printers window loads real slow in windows 8.1 and loads fast in windows 7 both are on the same computer as a dual boot system

    Yes, the device registry entries are the same. Just make sure you run the correct version of devnodeclean, x64 for 64-bit and x86 for 32-bit Windows.

    Are you confident this will work on a windows 7 or 8.x pro desktop.   The requirements only mention server?

    See my post in reply to Dillon from May 16 for info on how to remove the ghost entries. Do NOT delete anything manually in regedit. Run the devnodeclean tool and let it run to completion, which can take a while (depends on number of entries and speed of your PC, took an hour and a half for my 16,000 entries).

    I've got 7222 registry entries under  

    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class {533C5B84-EC70-11D2-9505-00C04F79DEAF}

    Is this the source of the problem and should I remove them?
