You are using an outdated browser. Please upgrade to the latest version for the best MSN experience.

Today I was absolutely surprised when trying to access MSN Money and could not, getting instead the message "You are using an outdated browser. Please upgrade to the latest version for the best MSN experience."  There was no warning yesterday or overnight when I was happily using the MSN Money site with no problems, that all of the sudden today there would be a "new" MSN site that would not be functional for many operating systems and browsers.  The MSN pages are almost unusable, formatted as a long list and in a way that does not show or allow the former functionality. Can't access my stock portfolio yet, on which I rely.  My browser is Safari 5.1.10.  I visited the Apple Support site and there is not a newer version of Safari available for my operating system, which runs Mac OSX version 10.6.8.  So I have the most up to date browser possible for my operating system.  My Mac is a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 with 8 GB or RAM, quite modern enough according to the MSN compatibility site, and, their compatibility site also says my version of OSX is compatible with MSN.  To try to get functionality, I uninstalled Silverlight and then re-installed it, following the installation instructions exactly at the Silverlight site.  Re-started my browser but still no improvement at MSN.com.  Can anyone offer help on this?  Any idea why MSN does this to regular customers?  Thank you.

I am running Vista and IE9, which, when I try to update, says that IE9 IS the most current browser for Vista.  At someone else's suggestion, I went to TOOLS, COMPATIBILITY VIEW SETTINGS, and removed MSN.COM from the compatibility view list.  My MSN.com homepage immediately changed from the unusable "list look" to what I assume is the new MSN.  Try it - it can't hurt at this point.

I had this problem with several machines at work and it was resolved by going to compatibility view settings andREMOVING msn.com from the list. Every machine that had this problem in IE9 also had msn.com listed in the compatability view settings.

This actuall works to solve the problem.
