can't update to 8.1 0xc1900101-0x20017

Tried to the new release 8.1 today 10/17.  My desktop was successful, but my laptop failed with can't update to 8.1 0xC1900101-0x20017.

I have read a clean install may be required. I have just installed windows 7 then upgraded to windows 8 about one month ago. Is there a way of downloading an ISO image for 8.1 and a key to due a clean install of 8.1 without paying $150.

The laptop is a ASUS U43F with a Crucial M500 960GB SSD.

    To all owners of the ASUS U43F laptop.

    Here is what the tech support from ASUS told me about this laptop:

    "We apologize for any inconvenience or frustration this may have caused. The reason you are having issues updating is this unit does not support 8.1 or 10. It was designed and we only claim it supports windows 7. So if you were able to install 8, thats more than what we claim it will support. We deeply apologize for this matter, but this unit does not appear it will have windows 10 support. "

    They have no intentions of helping or solving the upgrade issue with these laptops. We are stuck with what it is!!!

    That is an absolute lie.  The box and and laptop both had stickers on them that said "Upgrade to windows 8 Free!"  That was a MAJOR selling point to the laptop...

    That's what those **** said to me as well. I came back at them saying my 2007 Asus A8H laptop was able to install Windows 10.

    I am furious because how is the consumer expected to know whether or not their investment will be updated or not? If I knew that this computer will stop at Windows 8 I would not have bought this computer

    I'm seriously never going to buy from Asus again.

    As was stated, you can upgrade to Windows 8 buy no further. (i.e. not Windows 8.1 or 10)

    It's all just an excuse. The problem is clearly with the driver as I can't even upgrade to the most recent driver for the graphics card. I get a BSOD sometimes when I try to scan for new devices.  Even if I can't upgrade to Windows 8.1 per the ironclad promises of the sticker on the computer, it would be nice if the computer was supported in any instance of Windows.
