Error: 0x800F0922 when installing KB 2919355

This error may appear for multiple reasons. Some common causes are VPN clients and an unexpected System Reserved Partition size.

Try removing any VPN Clients and attempt the update again.

You might be able to fix this problem by using third-party software to increase the size of the System Reserved partition.

If you have tried both solutions and you still experience Error 0x800F0922 please contact Microsoft Support so that we can further investigate your issue.

If you want to fix your computer, please follow the steps in the tutorials, which I've condensed below. It's your computer and is your responsibility to fix it. We can gripe about Microsoft and their crappy support til we're blue in the face... it does nothing.  So, if you wish to fix your computer, please follow steps that have worked for every user that has tried them thus far.

    Steps

    1. Repair install with Win 8.1 Installation media (run the installer from within Windows)
    2. Once the repair install completes and you sign back into windows, you'll need to activate Windows by going to PC Settings - Activate (It should automatically activate w/o the need for re-entry of activation key)
    3. Run dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup (this will take a while, do not cancel it or run Windows Update.
    4. Upon completion, restart
    5. Run dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    6. Upon completion, restart
    7. Run sfc /scannow
    8. Upon completion (without errors, unless the cbs.log details file permission access errors; if anything else, restart), run Windows Update and install the 46 updates
    9. Restart whenever Windows Update tells you to do so (You may have to restart quite a few times, depending if you get the 80070005 error [atleast I think that's the error #], which says that other installs are going on).
    10. After restart, run Windows Update again, all that should be available is the KB2919355 update package, totalling a little more than 800MB in size.
    11. Restart when Windows directs you to.
    12. Run Windows update again, make sure KB2919355 isn't still listed but in a smaller size, if it is, install (repeat until you receive no updates at this time).

    EDIT:

If you don't have an 8.1 installation ISO, you will have to go to a software forum and download one that matches your version and architecture.  Most users didn't bother using the save as ISO option within the 8.1 installer when they went from 8 to 8.1, which has lead to majority of users not having an 8.1 ISO to perform a repair install with.  Repair Installs ARE NOT the same as Refresh/Rest (which shouldNEVERbe used).  Repair installs can be explained in length by selecting the web link within my first tutorial for repair installs.

Secondly, and far more important, it's extremely irritating when a user comes to a forum, is given the exact instructions on how to fix their problem, then replies Microsoft [support staff] already did all that... Microsoft can't have tried a repair install on your computer, as it's impossible for them to stay connected to your computer while doing a repair install, and it's impossible for corruption to exist afterwards if the repair install and accompanied dism commands are executed properly.

**I have edited the wording of this post and apologize for the snarky way it was written last night, as it came across quite rude to me when I re-read it this morning**

I didn't get to the repair install, so nothing happened. By the time I found your post I had already worked on this system for several hours covering two days. I still have an open ticket for this customer so if MS support does not get it installed as some other people have stated happened I will run the repair install.

I did check for the 8.1 installation media previously downloaded by the customer but it is no where to be found on his system.

So if needed I will download and run the steps you outlined above.

When I ran all of the other steps (DSIM, sfc) they all came back clean so hopefully the repair install will work if I need to do that if MS support does not succeed.
