Microsoft Mahjong Daily Challenge games not loading

Ok - have read all here, and short of upgrading to 8.1 - which it seems doesn't guarantee a fix anyway, nothing works...  Have installed the update received end February - problem still there...  today, Classic game won't load, two days ago, lightining tiles won't load....  just spinning tile...  Urggghhh!  When is Microsoft going to fix this - only started in February this year - you'd think they could identify what caused it!  

 Running Win 8.  I have eventually fixed this although the end Feb Mah Jong update didn't appear to work.  It screwed with my AVG 2014 which reported I had downloaded infected files so being a careful person doubted the file download and promptly removed the identity  "threats".  Mah Jong then didn't work at all. Uninstalled and reinstalled by still didn't work.  Tried to restore laptop to prior point when it was working but managed to "refresh" instead which deleted MS Office and AVG plus a number of other settings :-(

After reinstalling all the programs realised Mah Jong still didn't work until I okayed all the AVG "threats".

So now while I can play the game there is a lurking doubt that there may be something nasty going on in the background. Although in reality it's probably the software not talking to each other properly. If you are running the same anti-virus this may be interfering with the game and the most recent update causing the problems you are also still getting.  Strange that Solitaire and other games are not affected.  AVG is one of the most popular anti-virus programs out there and you would think Microsoft would check the integrity of updates/fixes to make sure they aren't causing more user end problems.  It would be so good if they all worked together!  Rant over.  good luck!

Follow the steps to update the Video card driver:

a.       Press Windows + X keys and click Device Manager.

b.      Expand ‘Display Adapters’.

c.       Right-click on the Video card listed and click on ‘Update Driver Software’.

I've been having the problem with Minesweeper and Mahjong for the last three weeks.  I don't think it is my computer because I can still run Daily challenges for Solitaire.   It's time to get this fixed.  I've had problems in the past but they usually went away in a couple of days.

Running Windows 8.1 and Internet Explorer 11.

Having same problem on my Surface. Running Windows 8. Can't update to 8.1 as I have original Surface RT and not enough room. Is there really no fix?

Disclaimer: While performing chkdsk on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found on the hard drive when chkdsk tries to repair that sector if any data available on that might be lost.
