Can't start Dolby Audio driver after upgrading to Windows 8.1

Lenovo U410 wirh Windows 8 pre-installed.

Upgrade to 8.1 went flawlessly, but every time I re-start or boot up the machine I get this:

I've uninstalled and re-installed Dolby Home Theater, done an extensive local and web search about this.

There appears to be NO mention on my machine anywhere for a Dolby Audio Driver" or anything that uses it.

I've been on the Lenovo forum and there's a thread there that says to disable driver signature, which I've done to no effect.

I still get this message.

Can anyone throw any light on this?

Hi Everyone!!

I did something to my laptop and it worked!!! After messing around the fix was simple!

Of course make sure your computer has all the windows updates. I don't know if that's gonna be a contributing factor, but it was part of my methods.

After that go into your "D Drive" which is found under "My computer" --> "Drivers" -->"Audio"

Once you're in the audio folder, you're gonna scroll down, you will see a computer icon that says "setup" click on that. Once you do that you will follow the instructions. It seems by doing this it updates the conextant audio driver. I don't know why it didn't update in the device manager as others have suggested. But after I did this, I checked to make sure it was fixed

You can see if it was fixed by:

Going into your control panel and clicking the Dolby theater which can be found in the sounds, games, etc. --> you should see the actual program pop up instead of the error message!

I am so glad I finally fixed this! If this helps you, please label it as the answer so everyone else can fix theirs too! It seems to be a major issue

Lenovo has updated the Conexant Audio Drivers for Windows 8.1 to correct this error.  You can download the updated drivers for your device at http://support.lenovo.com/en\_US/downloads/default.page.

    Tim,

    I had a hard time finding the Dolby Home Theater in the driver section, I think that different brands of computers have different paths or driver names or something. I eventually fixed it like so:

    -Open This PC via desktop icon or right click on start button

    -Select *C:* Drive and search your computer in the search box for DOLBY

    -Double click the Dolby Home Theatersetup icon (icon is a computer w/sprocket)

    -Select REMOVE and follow wizard commands

    -Double click the same Dolby Home Theater icon and select INSTALL ... there are some options but I                    don't know what they mean and I don't care so I just unchecked all of them and installed..                    I hope everything goes good, But the error message doesn't show anymore!!!!!

    Hi MK,

    I ignored the message ("Can't detect device") in the end, uninstalled all my attempts to install new drivers from diverse websites, went to the Lenovo website (my pc is a Lenovo) and reinstalled the most appropriate driver.

    It is working now and I have a stable windows 8.1

    (It was the only problem I found with W 8.1 - The Dolby driver prioblem only showed up with the installation of 8.1)

    Maybe an added complication in my case is that I am running a 64 bit system.

    Hello there: I am having the same problem. I chose to uninstall the conexant driver but after that i can see the scan for new hardware in the actions tab. instead i see scan for hardware changes and it does nothing to add a new device. dhow do i get windows to detect a device now. Driver will come at a later stage, wouldnt u agree?

    Apart from that, the bluetooth, is also not functioning, the youtube videos play for a second (without sound) and then it says an error occured. I am so not happy upgrading to windows 8.1( i just got a thinkpad e531 6885c6q and so not liking the idea of MS enticing  people to upgrade windows. Please help.
