Windows Experience Index reports error. How can I diagnose and fix this?

Unfortunately, the information that you have got from the third party website is not useful.

Yes, we are all allowed an opinion even if millions of PC users and many PC techs might disagree with it and use PCpitstop for an overall view of their own, or a "not in front of them" PC.

Your link takes one to the PC Pitstop website. The advice offered is too simple and is a total waste of time. Two suggestions to defragment your C drive, another to empty your Recycle Bin, a fourth regarding Firefox password and something about 4 craplets!

I no longer have your files on my computer. Please provide an updated  copy of your System Information file. Type System Information in the Search Box above the start Button and press the ENTER key (alternative is Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Information). Select File, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. Do not place the cursor within the body of the report before exporting the file. The system creates a new System Information file each time system information is accessed. You need to allow a minute or two for the file to be fully populated before exporting a copy. Please upload to your OneDrive (formerly Sky Drive), share with everyone and post a link here. Reports in normal mode preferred. Please say if the report has been obtained in safe mode.

Please upload and share with everyone fresh copies of your System and Application logs from your Event Viewer to your One Drive (formerly Sky Drive) and post a link here. You can remove the earlier copies of the logs from your OneDrive.

To access the System log select Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer, from the list in the left side of the window expand Windows Logs and select System. Place the cursor on System, select Action from the Menu and Save All Events as (the default evtx file type) and give the file a name. Do the same for the Applications log. Do not provide filtered files. Do not place the cursor in the list of reports before selecting Action from the menu. Do not clear logs whilst you have a continuing problem.

I posted the problem about the WEI because it stated that there was an error possibly in the OS.  Since it was a new (reconditioned) computer and new Windows 7, I was concerned.  I don't think there are major problems with the system those as you can see by the rating given by the Overdrive assessment, it isn't the best.  I have already emptied the "recycle bin".

I invite you, Ratandeep and Gerry to look at the results at the above URL and let me know if there is any thing worrisome, systemically.  If not, I will not worry at all about the WEI and get on with life.

Anne, you also have the option of doing a "restore to factory condition", as all bought computers have a small invisible partition containing an ISO of the original settings, just like you bought it!

Restoring to this condition varies for different computer brands (F12 after booting to get to the factory restore menu more often than not, but it varies between brands. Older computers often need restore disks that you make yourself or supplied with computer), so you would have to go to your "official" computer support site. to find out. A factory restore is a simple procedure to carry out.

Before you do anything else though and I'm surprised no one has mentioned it, backup all your personal data to flash, disk or USB hard drive. Please do that before you do anything!

A clean fresh install from a windows disk you have to make yourself, should be a last resort.
