Hello All,
I recently bought a brand new laptop from Amazon, a very sexy Acer Aspire that I absolutely love! The only problem with this gorgeous piece of work is that I can't use it that much!
It came with Windows 8 and worked fine for the first week, but then it started to randomly freeze. At the time, I thought it was WoW causing the freezing on the machine since that is all I was using it for at first. Several weeks later, when I started to play WoW less and do more on the computer, the freezing would still occur at the most random of times, no matter what I was or was not doing!
Let me be clear. When I say that this computer freezes, I mean that the cursor is frozen, it registers NO input of any kind, even if I faceroll the keyboard and run all of my fingers across its beautiful touch screen. What's equally annoying is that there is NO warning that it's about to happen. When the freeze occurs, I cannot do ANYTHING on the computer.
Once it freezes, the ONLY thing that I can do to fix it is to perform a hard restart, which I HATE to do.
I thought that the problem might be fixed once I upgraded it to 8.1, so I was very excited to install it, but that has not been the case. The problem has been consistent in its occurrence and annoyance.
I cannot, for the life of me, imagine what the issue might be, but if anyone may be able to provide a permanent solution to this problem, I would be eternally grateful to them.

I repeat what I stated on 20th August above:

I am now into the third day and leaving the computer on 24/7 and no problem!'
I am now on Day 6 and I have absolutely NO problems and I leave my laptop on 24/7!

had problem long time finally a quick fix simply unplug battery and use only ac power works great apparently with ac and battery pluged in it's fighting one another.
have not tried yet ONLY trying the battery but together t will freeze
My Acer Aspire V5 began freezing some months ago and the only solution was to do a 'hard' power off and on.
All would be ok for several hours when it would freeze again!
Things got worse after I moved from Windows 8 to 10.
I think I may have come up with the solution to my problem and maybe it might help other Acer users.
One can use the Ethernet (hard wire) connection to the Router or WiFi.
I am using WiFi all the time and never use the Ethernet connection.
I opened Network Connections and DISABLED the Ethernet connection.
I am now into the third day and leaving the computer on 24/7 and no problem!

Oh I know I should not say this but I have just installed W10 and every thing is running fine. The only problem I'm aware of is the laptop camera, a Chicony usb 2.0 camera Toshiba has no available driver for Microsoft. Neither has the manufacturer ©. Hey Ho
I did a system refresh, as much as I dislike having to reinstall drivers and fight with the printer to print, and all my headaches went away. I never looked back. Yes, my system was that corrupted!
