If you have C:\Users\Default and you have used the Windows Update troubleshooter and completed the DISM commands but still experience Error 0x80070003 please contact Microsoft Support so that we can further investigate your issue.

That's the listing of updates on a clean 8.1 install. Notice the language in there regarding the patches without KB2919355? Those are then installed again post KB2919355 as you now need a revised version of the update for your patched system.

I solved my problem with this update. Maybe my solution will help some of you. Initially, I got an error when trying to install KB2919355 through Windows Automatic Update. Following various posts, I reset windows update and tried installing the update manually. KB2919355 installed, but I was offered KB2919355 again at 196.9 MB. I then found out that this equated to 5 other updates that are part of Update 1. I tried again. KB2919355 installed no problem, but the next update in order, KB2932046, would not install and returned error 0x80070003. Searching for a solution to this problem on this forum, I came up dry. Through various circumstances, I decided to try KB2932046 again with my ethernet cable unplugged. Holy cow, success. That was followed by a successful install of the remaining components of Update 1 and all new updates. If your computer is connected to a network when trying to install the updates, remove it from the network. Sounds crazy, but give it a try.

The 11 patches that show up following the KB2919355 update are: Optional KB2955164 Important KB2953522 KB2920189 KB2926765 KB2962140 KB2954879 KB2939153 KB2950153 KB2956575 KB2958262 KB2965065

Go back a page and read my write up. Four reoffered security updates that need to be redone after the install of KB2919355, the rest are only applicable post KB2919355. Nothing is being withheld from impacted machines.

Thanks for taking the time to verify everything :) I was wrong and will be editing my posts with the correct information. EDIT: The one thing I did find a bit perplexing is during this repair install, 2919355 installed fine, no failures, no need to run the 8.1 installer to get it to install, it was flawless. I remember reading a post on one of the tens of forums I tried to find a solution on that one individual had lost power, causing a dirty shutdown. Following this, he was unable to install 2919355. I know there were a few times I had to manually turn off my laptop after it had frozen for a half hour, however, it was never during the install of KB2919355. This is the only difference that I can recall between last time and this time... do you know why this would cause an issue installing any update?
