How to uninstall LogMeIn Rescue RC after MS tech support session

simply delete the file and run a scan , if it cannot be installed it will not harm the computer always have a firewall. and antivirus , i have 4 antivirus running and have backup of all my important files and 2 factor for my most important data.

ifa microsoft tech gave you the code it won't be a problem but don't trust other,s i didn't even trust my microsoft tech i was panicking and she understood ,rofl.

That is obviously the goal, but in my situation, my system got so messed up it did remain.

Yes, it really was their LogMeIn tool.

Yes, they really did try to manually uninstall drivers without creating a restore point (which I'd already done) or asking me if I had a backup (sadly mine was a couple of days old).

MS had me disable my firewall for LogMeIn  to work.

The MS tech disabled drivers in his increasingly  desperate attempts to undo his fixes.

It's been a while since this happened so I don't recall all the steps I took to repair got my system running.

So, in short, yes, normally LogMeIn Rescue should be click once, but it is not fail proof and can make matters much worse.

Since this time I've had MS support suggest a factory reset for hardware failure...physical hardware breakage,and once because a driver or OS update, don't know which, broke high resolution on an external monitor.

In conclusion, while your cautionary note to be wary of outside software and to use antivirus software is always good advice, in this case it was off the mark. My experience with MS tech since this has only been as bad, in harmful ways.

I do not recommend people use MS support. It is painfully bad, in my experience in recent years, and to never, ever install the rescue program. Have the tech walk you thru the diagnostics.  Be absolutely certain that you have created a restore point and back up via File History at a bare minimum. If you do use their LogMeIn tool,do not them off the phone til you can reboot and verify the tool correctly uninstalled.

yeah we understand your situation , the best you can do is to ask a real life computer tech not a virtual one to restore to a point where your security was compromised,

logme in is ok if initiated by a ms tech , but some techs are not that geeky and need help themselves , i usually ask 2 techs to fix the issue side by side if one can't , nothing to worry if you can still access the system clear off all the logmein downloads and lock your folder's if your ms tech did not have access to your sensitive files you will be good.

get 2 antivurs atleast for your computer , next time instead of wasting time online , walk to the nearest microsoft certified technician and ask them to fix it , most computer repair center's have this feature . even the online techs will let you know where you can find a nearest hardware technician , if your hardware chip is undamaged recovery is still possible , don't lose hope.

install minimum 2 antivirus for a normal home computer , for a office computer 4-5 if has high sensitive data and minimum 2  firewalls.

you say you have a recovery point , so give it a try all the best.

if you recovered then backup files clean the hardware disk completely with a hardware tech and ask him to install 2 antivirus and 2 firewalls to protect you from future damage , if possible politely say to a online tech that turning off the firewall is putting your computer at risk and he may refer you to a real life hardware tech on request.

normally system back will work also most free firewalls and antivirus will create a backup for you if requested you need a complete empty cd/dvd disk  or a usb with atleast 16 gb space for it optimal is a 32 gb disk , after you have reached a certain point in your computer , open the antivirus and click the back up option or use system backup it will back up all of your files into the disk / usb , take the usb and put it in a locker , if you have sensitive info put it in a bank locker . that's it no matter what computer hardware you lose , you will have access to all your data.

if you are planning to buy a new computer you can always transfer the old data into it.

if you think someone may misuse the usb just put a lock on the backup folder and you are good to go.

if you finished all that create a zip file and put all your backup data in this and lock the zip file . then copy it and put in in 2 or 3 usb's in case you lose the mother backup that's it .

alternatively you can try online backup which will have free drives or you to store data in , if you have sensitive info you might reconsider this cause , there is always a risk of being compromised online.

alternatively you can download backup softwares which make the work more easier by backing up and writing the info directly to your cd.

it can't get more precautious than this . 

used the compressed file usb's for your daily use put the mother backup and a zip file usb double check both have uncorrupted files or you will have to recover the corrupted files.

that's it i think , if you take all the steps above you will never lose your data, good luck.!!

It's not a good idea to try to run more than one antivirus program simultaneously because they use kernel hooks. In general all you'll really do is kill performance, but it can cause very serious corruption as well.

More than one firewall and/or malware scanner, go right ahead.

hmm yeah i know but certain antiviruses do not run side by side , i only use which run side by side and have system optimizer/ cleanup / speedup for the optimization of the driver space.

certain antivirus will not have any features.

i already told you , if you have a home computer minimum antivirus is 2 and one firewall  , if you feel safe with one it's your personal opinion.

my system seems to be working fine , but i gotta clean up some junk files up from time to time.

they seem to happily coexist though.

i have heavy sensitive data which i cannot compromise , i have no other option , to do this ,hmm.

had 2 antivirus before i had to take this precaution , now i have 5 let me see.

 i have back up , also so no worries.
