Win 7 Windows Update 80246002 Unable to run updates

As suggested by Microsoft, the failed security update MS14-045 requires actions to be take. You recommend manual uninstall of KB 2982791. This I did. The system reboots. I then went to try and use Windows Update so that it finds and installs the replacement, KB 2993651.

Windows Update is now corrupted. It issues error code 80246002. All attempts to run the Troubleshooter to fix it, says it is unable to automatically resolved the problem. It has entries with a red X in the list. When you ask for the detailed report, though, it shows no problems against any of the entries.

 now; the first time I ran it, it showed an Error 1 accessing Windows\SoftwareDistribution, access denied.

It's unconscionable that MS should generate even more severe errors when trying to back out from an existing error from a failed update. And simply deleting one KB, now renders the entire Windows Update process unusable.

    Either that or everyone's ISPs are all interconnected with Time Warner.  TW def has a problem.  But for sure something funky/weird is going on with DNS that moving to either Google DNS or OPENDNS is fixing this.

    People from all over the world started complainting about this on the 27/28 of August, are you seriously trying to blame all of our ISPs to be working together on the account of greed, in order to prevent us from access widows updates only??

    I'm on a different country and have the problem, people from sweden have complainted to. Hello?! ISP greed, really?

    I hope you're right... It just sounds messed up. Changed IP  but didn't update the Windows Update with that info?

    It's not the first time this happens this year, is it?

    I'm not doing any of this, until the day before yesterday all machines I know with Win7 could update themselves just fine.

    This will seriously compromise my computer protection.

    I'll just turn my Apple stuff On and wait for the solutions to be fixed by these guys at the source, as it should.

    I can wait. The machine will be fully formatted again and waiting at the start line.
