I have mine set to "Manual" and got the error on log-on today. So, while most of the time it works, apparently not always. The Automatic (Delayed) never worked for me except for initial log-on then it would cease to work.
This is very annoying.

I got following error message while I log in to my windows account and only my account.
I tried to set Windows Live ID sign-In Assistant to manual start in Windows Services. it only works one time, once I start using Windows Live mail and log out and log back in then I get error messaged again. I tried to msconfig and uncheck Windows Live IS Sign-In that I do not see error message, but Windows Live Mail cannot launch,
I use Windows 7 Home Premium version.
It looks like that it has something with Windows Live mail,
Your help and information is great appreciated,
Regards,
Souris,
Here is error message,
There was a problem that caused parts of the Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant to be disabled. You might not be able to sign in to Windows Live in some programs. The problem may have been caused by a program that was recently installed. For more information, please go to: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkId=144689

Sorry to hear that you are still receiving the error message despite the setting. Perhaps there is a more serious impact on you as your OS is Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. Mine is lowly Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit version 6.1.7601 SP 1 Build 7601.
I await a reply from MS.
Who knows what is causing this. Very annoying and, as far as I know, I changed nothing. Just started popping up.
