After update messages Error status 0xc000012f keeps coming up?

Different messages keep popping up on my hp windows 8 laptop after I got the update downloaded onto my computer. Different windows keep coming up all concerning system32\uxtheme.dll for example:

Dropbox.exe - Bad Image

C:\Windows\system32\uxtheme.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0xc000012f

it isn't just Dropbox.exe but also numerous different products and no matter how many times i press OK on many different programs more and more keep coming up it's never-ending how to i fix this please help.

Uninstall KB2879017 update.

Cumulative Security Update for IE 10 for Windows 8 x64 systems.

If you can't uninstall, restore to a previous point before the update.

Mark the update as hidden within Windows Update so it doesn't update again.

    Just to add, I was helping someone with this earlier today and uninstalling the update KB2936068 fixed it.  They were running Windows 8

    I actually called Microsoft about this.  A single update to IE seems to cause this and their solution is to refresh Windows.

    I wish they'd investigate why this happens and patch it up rather than just having people reinstall Windows.

    This worked for me too.  I uninstalled KB2936068 and then hid it after restart.  Voila!  So far, the problem appears to be gone!

    As I mentioned update KB2879017 is not on this PC.

    So instructions by HartleySpurlock do not apply (refer to his reply on October 15, 2013)

    "Uninstall KB2879017 update. Cumulative Security Update for IE 10 for Windows 8 x64 systems."... etc.

    But one of the updates today was KB2936068 - another Cumulative Security Update for IE 10 for Windows 8 x64 systems.

    I tried my luck and uninstalled KB2936068 , and after restart I marked the update as hidden within Windows Update (so it will not update again, further to HartleySpurlocks instructions).

    And guess what! It did the trick; - no more error messages, and Adobe Reader installed successfully.

    So in my case I solved the problem following HartleySpurlocks instructions (refer to his reply on October 15, 2013) - only I substituted KB2879017 from his instructions by KB2936068.

    Case closed.

    I have the same problem on a Windows 8 PC (Dutch installation).

    Error message looks like this:

    I uninstalled already Adobe Reader, Java 1.7, Intel Rapid Storage, all the programs that gave this error message. Now even starting SkyDrive.exe from the tiles Start screen of Windows 8 gives this message.

    At the moment the messages have stopped displaying at startup, but when I try to reinstall Adobe Reader, same messages popping up again.

    Problem is I don't have KB2879017 update installed; 18 updates were installed today April 17, but not this one.

    Any clue?
