Surface Arc Touch Mouse not compatible on Windows 7?

It would appear that compatibility is not directly related to the OS but to the ability of the system to connect to LE (Low Energy) bluetooth devices.

This may be related to your laptop's hardware (i.e. the bluetooth chipset does not support the functionality) or your drivers (the chipset might not have the latest drivers enabling LE connections loaded). From what I understand, in Windows 7, the functionality is not natively supported.

You could buy a Bluetooth dongle that supports the functionality, but you need to make sure that they provide you with the correct drivers for Windows 7.

What a shame.  It looked like a good mouse.  Paired great with my Android phone.  Not going to move to Windows8 for a mouse.   I do not know why Microsoft is so intent on craming Windows 8 down our throat.  It is a horrible product.   Many people will be converted by the time they are done.

Thank you!!  I have been using my Arc Mouse Surface Edition mouse with my Windows 7 work laptop for a few months now.  After seeing your post, I went to the Dell support site and saw there was a Bluetooth driver update from last Fall that I did not have.  I updated the driver and presto, the mouse now works!

The only downside is that I need to re-pair it with either device when going from one to the other.  I cannot get the menu that you show in your post.  I have not downloaded the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center.

If I have already paired it with the laptop, but later used it with the Surface Pro and then go back to the laptop, the profile is still there on my laptop.  I hold the button on the mouse to pair it, and then have two profiles for the mouse, so I delete the old one.  The same thing happens when I go back to my Surface Pro- I have to hold down the pair button, wait for it to pair (which takes a while sometimes) and then get two entries for the mouse.  I can't see how to pair with the old profile for the mouse in either laptop or Surface Pro.

Minor inconvenience compared to being able to use it on both devices.

I managed to get as far as pairing the device with my Win7 laptop, however when I click on "Bluetooth LE Services" it won't work no matter how many times I click "Try Again". Has anyone else faced this issue and come across a workaround?

This worked for me too on an HP Revolve 810 with W7.  I had to update the Bluetooth driver, but after that this process worked!  Thanks!
