Windows 8.1 Update Error Code: 0x80240031

I am getting error code 0x80240031 during download of Windows 8.1 for 50% of Downloading. Can anybody help me fix this?

I found simple fix:

Fixed it by disconnecting wired connection and using wireless. Since the other guy fixed it with the use of VPN, I suspect the patch is downloaded without error corrections (like in FTP protocol), and if checksum is wrong, this error is generated. Using extra protocol, like VPN and wireless that corrects for errors solves this problem. That's my theory anyway. I have seen this problem with other ftp downloads, when I just could not download large file with right checksum over wired internet connection, but I can with WiFi.

My problem was using Verizon phone to try and update. I had to take my computer to a friends and user their DSL.

OK, here is how this got resolved for me on my PC only (not touch screen).

uninstalled Zone Alarm (currently this is not compatible with Windows 8.1)

restart PC

Press Windows key + R

Type: WSreset.exe (enter)

then refreshed my PC by pressing Windows key + C

go to Settings

Change PC Settings (at bottom right)

in General

Refresh your PC without affecting your files (for some this could be in Update and Recovery, then goto recovery)

click on Get Started, follow screen instructions to refresh your PC

restart PC

Go to windows stores and start update for 8.1 or go to Microsoft website and start downloading windows 8.1
