This is seriously still not taken care of? I purchased a laptop on Friday and have been working vigorously trying to get the update installed. I have gone through all the possible fixes that have worked for others, and also I got in touch with Acer last night and they had me do some other weird **** and it still didn't work. The only thing I have not tried is downloading the ISO and doing it that way. Why the **** is Microsoft blatantly ignoring this? Best Buy told me this is a regular issue with Windows 8 and I could trade my laptop in for another one...just not the one I have because they don't have it anymore and I don't want another computer, and if the computer hardware isn't the problem why should I be swapping out computers????

This is the same laptop I purchased for my mother in law for Christmas and I set it up for her and didn't have any problems doing any of the updating for hers. 129 replies later Microsoft HELLOOOOO????

It worked for me after disabling windows defender. I reinstated defender after download completed. Had to install Office 365 twice due to a connection problem but all good now.
