Windows 8.1 Update Error Code: 0x80240031

I am getting error code 0x80240031 during download of Windows 8.1 for 50% of Downloading. Can anybody help me fix this?

    Turn off windows defender and then try download 8.1.  It worked for me.

    me too. just as I expect it to raise from 50 to 51%, it crashes and gives me the same error code: 

    0x80240031

    it really is frustrating because I just got my new laptop and I want this app which is only available for windows 8.1! ugh!!!! :(

    I am having a installed windows 8 laptop when i purchased when i update windows 8 to 8.1 from store  after 50% i got a message "The app wasn't installed - view details " with error code 0x80240031 please suggest me solution to this problem

    What fixed it for me was going to windows defender and switching off one of the security settings (i think it was real time protection) I got this tip off another site and it worked first time after 10 unsuccessful attempts I'll see if I can find the original link

    You are definitely wrong. I have speeds avg 15 meg/ second.I try daily since the day released. No luck You really should not speak definitively when you don't know.  You know what WOULD work 100%? Release a disc!
