Windows 8.1 Update Error Code: 0x80240031

same problem here. I hope micro's will fix it soon.

I'm getting the same error at about the same point in the download on two Windows 8 Pro with Media Center 64bit PCs and a Windows 8 RT device (all on same LAN).   Have tried the download a half dozen times on one of the PCs, Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13.  I've tried a number of suggested fixes including a clean boot.  Nothing has worked yet. 

Since it's failed to update on so many devices I'm thinking it has to be a server/connectivity issue(?)

Windows update reports that there are no important updates.

However the windows update from control panel had two optional updates - one on Win 8 Pro and the other on bing bar.

Will try updating those now.

Meanwhile, tried a couple of reboots - still failed just about at 50% - and it is very slow to download!

fingers crossed now on the optional updates..

When I go to "Windows Update" there are no updates listed. I checked a couple of times and it says I'm up to date.

I'm on 64 bit professional as well. I installed Windows 7 from CD to my hard drive, and then upgraded to Windows 8 from CD last October.

Same problem here.  Trying to install remotely to a laptop (before I do my desktop) and this is scaring me.
