Adobe Acrobat on Windows 8.1

Installed adobe acrobat 7.0 pro on windows 8.1 machine. Everything seemed to install correctly but when I try launching the program i get a message:

Acrobat.exe - application error

The applicalication was unable to start correctly (0xc00000fd). Click OK to close the application.

Please help!

I have just waded through all of those updates 1 at a time and if you un-install KB2917929 it will solve the problem. Believe it or not Microsoft call it a compatibility update!!!!

    I have the same problem After updating from windows 8 to windows 8.1 my adobe acrobat 7 is giving error 0xc00000fd

    the previous suggestion is to uninstall these KB2843630,  KB2919907 updates. how to do this or maybe other solutions

    I have the same problem , and errors, with Adobe Acrobat Professional 7  that I have just tried to install on my computer  recently upgraded to Win 8.1 with latest service packs. As prevoiously reported, one cannot individually delete KB2917929.

    That was on the  standard User Profile supposedly with Admininstration rights

    HOWEVER, I just enabled the "Administrator" Profile  (which has elevated Administration rights) and installed Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.  It opened with out any errors. 

    Logging out and logging into my own profile,  I tried to start Adobe Acrobat 7, but just as before failed with error 0xc00000fd.

    Does this mean that one might be able to tweak the Permissions of Folders and Files in the Acrobat installation directory such that it might run ?

    Can someone explain what additional rights the Administrator Profile has, that are missing on a Profile with Administration rights ?

    I have noticed one difference that may be significant. On the security settings for Acrobat files the "permissions  for Administrators" section  has everything ticked except for "special permissions".  Whereas at least under some circumstances,  the "permissions for Administrator ("The" Adminstrator)  had ONLY "special permissions" ticked.  

    I am no computer expert, so hoping for advice as to how to solve this problem.

    Hello,  

    I have been having the same problem.  I even installed it in xp pro compatibility mode.   I read through all the posts here and searched for the windows update KB2917929  .  However, it is not listed as any of the updates that I have.  I then uninstalled all the other windows updates but there was no change.  I still receive the same error.  At this point, my laptop already updated the window updates automatically.  Would someone provide an answer for me so I can get my Acrobat Pro 7 working on this new laptop?  This  Windows 8 is most disappointing.
