Adobe Acrobat on Windows 8.1

Installed adobe acrobat 7.0 pro on windows 8.1 machine. Everything seemed to install correctly but when I try launching the program i get a message:

Acrobat.exe - application error

The applicalication was unable to start correctly (0xc00000fd). Click OK to close the application.

Please help!

I have just waded through all of those updates 1 at a time and if you un-install KB2917929 it will solve the problem. Believe it or not Microsoft call it a compatibility update!!!!

    You're really asking for trouble installing an old version of Acrobat. Here's a list of all the vulnerabilities which can compromise your machine which date back to 2009 when that version was released. http://helpx.adobe.com/security/products/acrobat.html

    If you want to continue using Acrobat, then update to current version a.s.a.p., or switch to the free Foxit Reader which you can download from here:

    http://www.foxitsoftware.com/Secure_PDF_Reader/

    I got the same Problems with the error 0xc00000fd

    But:

    Before the last updates  on 15.02.14 all works fine.

    Now i installed updates until Version 7.1.4 -> same error.

    do you change everytime your car, tv, girl or anything else when the calendar changes? ;-)

    win 8.x can simulate older Versions like win xp.

    I tried to run Acrobat in win xp mode but it doesnt work. Mmmh...

    It's entirely up to you if you want to install older apps which will expose your machine to attack. It's your property and you're entitled to do whatever you wish with it.

    All I can do is to point out the dangers of doing so and then it's up to you whether you wish to disregard my advice or not.

    Just don't blame me when malware takes advantage of flaws in older apps and empties your bank account for you.
