I have just waded through all of those updates 1 at a time and if you un-install KB2917929 it will solve the problem. Believe it or not Microsoft call it a compatibility update!!!!

Installed adobe acrobat 7.0 pro on windows 8.1 machine. Everything seemed to install correctly but when I try launching the program i get a message:
Acrobat.exe - application error
The applicalication was unable to start correctly (0xc00000fd). Click OK to close the application.
Please help!

2016-02-28T01:45:16+00:00 Acrobat pro 8.1 is the last (or near-last) version of PDF-reader-writer that allows you to write onto PDFs and even to read "protected" PDFs , so you can imagine Adobe's obsession with getting rid of it and replacing it with a $15/moth "service" supplying users with another billable instead of the functionality you alraedy had on the Acrobat Pro 8.1! If you happen tot have the installation software for the 8.1 cherish it! Do not do anything Adobe tells you, such as to upgrade, it because that will disable your old Acrobat Pro 8.1 ! It's an obvious scam to remove existing Acrobat Pro software and replace it with a money-making monthly service that does exactly the same thing! Keep your Acrobat Pro 8.1 as long as you can because it will coast you if your let Adobe know you want to keep Acrobat 8.1!

2015-09-02T22:07:55+00:00 I have upgraded from Win 8.1 to Win 10, but have not had the time to see if Acrobat 7's incompatibility problems as found with Win 8.1 still apply to Win 10.
Has anyone tried installing Acrobat 7 onto a Win 10 operating system, and if so, have the incompatibility problems been resolved?
