Adobe Acrobat on Windows 8.1

Installed adobe acrobat 7.0 pro on windows 8.1 machine. Everything seemed to install correctly but when I try launching the program i get a message:

Acrobat.exe - application error

The applicalication was unable to start correctly (0xc00000fd). Click OK to close the application.

Please help!

I have just waded through all of those updates 1 at a time and if you un-install KB2917929 it will solve the problem. Believe it or not Microsoft call it a compatibility update!!!!

    Hi. I am not an expert, but I searched all my updates and could not find the ones mentioned here on the forum, and so could not delete them.  BUT - I did see the earlier post suggesting to create a local account to logon instead of using the online Microsoft account. When I did that my Adobe Acrobat 7 worked fine. No idea why it worked but it did. Hope this helps.

    That would be great if it (windows 8.1)allowed me to unistall the update.

    I go to Control panel - programs - program features-installed updates and highlite the update but there is no change or uninstall option. I even tried in safe mode - still no go

    Acrobat 7 does work in safe mode tho **** ?

    Any help to get rid of this update would be appreciated.

    Windows 10 allow installation without any mods also all cs2 programs install (the ones adobe gave away with serials including Acrobat 7 pro)

    They may be old but for casual user still usable.
