I have just waded through all of those updates 1 at a time and if you un-install KB2917929 it will solve the problem. Believe it or not Microsoft call it a compatibility update!!!!

Installed adobe acrobat 7.0 pro on windows 8.1 machine. Everything seemed to install correctly but when I try launching the program i get a message:
Acrobat.exe - application error
The applicalication was unable to start correctly (0xc00000fd). Click OK to close the application.
Please help!

2015-08-30T08:08:50+00:00 Thank you ArrunG - that worked fine and all the other fixes would not work as I could not find those update files to delete them. Adobe prof v 7 now works fine on Win 8.1 64 bit. Many thanks indeed !

2015-07-01T15:35:57+00:00 I have the same problem, BUT, it happened right after I synced my Microsoft account in my W8.1 pc..
I had the same issue before, and I had to reinstall the OS, and the application runned perfectly 'till 5 minuts ago when I synced my account, so it makes me thing thats the problem...
Now i'm looking for a solution to this error.
At least, now I know what caused it.

2015-06-04T09:09:03+00:00 I am using MS 8.1. I deleted MS updates KB2917929, KB2843630 & KB2919907 but it still didn't fix the application error 0xc00000fd when I opened my Adobe Acrobat 7. I then removed Acrobat 7 from my machine. After that I deleted all Windows updates (but not the security updates) up to and including February 2015. I then re-installed Acrobat and all was fixed.

2015-06-03T14:48:08+00:00 As an update on this process - you can use the small search box in the upper right corner of the screen to look for KB2917929 and KB2919355.
I installed all the latest upgrades to 8.1 this morning, as part of the process to install the "Get Windows 10 App", which does not appear if you do not have the updates installed and the computer set to receive updates (Google "Get Windows 10 App"). Even though I unchecked KB2917929 so it would not install, it did and Adobe 7.0 stopped working. I removed it again through the process below and it works fine, so now I have all the updates except that one I did not want. The KB2919355 did not install as they have modified the updates so it is not installed automatically - they must have had issues?
However, after all of this I find out that because I have Windows 8.1 PRO I do not get the app for Windows 10 but have to wait for Windows 10 PRO.
The good thing is that you can update your computer now with the latest for 8.1 and then just remove the bad update and everything else works fine.

Follow these steps:
- click on "Control Panel"
- click on "Programs and Features"
- far upper left panel corner outside of list, click on "view installed updates"
- highlight update to uninstall
- click "uninstall" beside "organize" in blue shaded title box
Process complete.
I also shut off the AUTOMATIC UPDATES on WIN8 and I have NEVER installed another update. I will wait until WIN10 comes out. Unfortunately you can not go back to WIN7 which I think was really nasty of Microsoft!
