I have just waded through all of those updates 1 at a time and if you un-install KB2917929 it will solve the problem. Believe it or not Microsoft call it a compatibility update!!!!

Installed adobe acrobat 7.0 pro on windows 8.1 machine. Everything seemed to install correctly but when I try launching the program i get a message:
Acrobat.exe - application error
The applicalication was unable to start correctly (0xc00000fd). Click OK to close the application.
Please help!

2015-05-25T15:53:38+00:00 Is KB2919355 on your update list? I removed KB2917929 and when that didn't help I removed that update--it's a big one--and that solved the problem for me.
Unfortunately it screwed up lots of other things and left me with a system that was essentially Windows 8.05. I decided to reinstall and forget about Acrobat for the time being. If it works in Windows 10 I'll use it, otherwise I'll get someone else's pdf editor....
