Hi, i am having trouble with .msi files. An example of it would be logmein hamachi. It would return me with error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. What should I do? i am currently using windows 8 pro with media centre. my windows installer is Windows ® Installer. V 5.0.9200.16384. Thanks

I had the exact same problem. The solution is to go into c:\users"username"\AppData\Local\ then right click on "temp" and choose "properies". Choose "security" --> edit --> add, and add the username you are using, and give yourself all rights. After that it'll work :)

I have this exact problem with a fresh installation of Windows RT 8.1 Preview on my Dell XPS 10.
Unfortunately all these steps didn't provide a workable solution.
Microsoft Office 2013 RT configuration did not complete successfully.
Error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
Doing a reset on the Windows RT 8.1 Preview installation creates the same problem.
