Get Error 1723 - There is a problem with Windows Installer package

Hi, i am having trouble with .msi files. An example of it would be logmein hamachi. It would return me with error 1723. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. What should I do? i am currently using windows 8 pro with media centre. my windows installer is Windows ® Installer. V 5.0.9200.16384. Thanks

I had the exact same problem. The solution is to go into c:\users"username"\AppData\Local\  then right click on "temp" and choose "properies". Choose "security" --> edit --> add, and add the username you are using, and give yourself all rights. After that it'll work :)

    O meu Windows é o 10,e tem um jogo que tento instalar pelo InstallShield,e fica dando um erro de pacote com o numero 1723,como posso resolver?

    For those of you who cannot find the appdata folder, you may do the following:

    • Use Windows Explorer to go to c:\users<user name>
    • In Explorer, click the View tab and in the ribbon, check the box to show the hidden files. Other way to show this folder is to write manually the path in the address bar, e.g.: 

           c:\users\fernando\appdata

    and then press Enter.

    • Either way, now you should be able to see the content of the appdata folder and continue the process.
