Call of duty 4 crashes in Windows 8.

my call of duty 4 doesent work in win 8. it gives me this mesage at a random time:

iw3mp.exe has stopped working

i have tryed googeling and found some ansers that dident work on my pc.

i have made no upgrades on my pc and instaled a clean win 8. jet call of duty 4 isent working on win 8 while it whas working on win 7.

i hope someone can help me fix this problem.

Hello to all

I found the solution, u will get ur cod4 crashed if u r using xfire for launching the game or if u already used it once and xfire is running in backround, it will still crashes, first att all try to exit xfire and try then, if the problem is still there u have to let pb services to run on desktop, set full control, after that is done u have to instal pbsvc again, and download pb files for Cod4 cuz Punkbuster is not supporting cod4 anymore, when u copy files to pb file of cod4 problem should be solved, those guys from Microsoft are not even tryin to help...

    well on my end all that i tryed dident work.

    the Compatibility Mode even disabled my mouse in game.

    and i think it hase to do with the multiplayer/internet becouse i dont have trouble with the single player part. i have updated my punkbuster so that isent it.

    to make sure i run the same call of duty 4 as i did on win 7 i copeyd my program files and pasted it into my win 8. i stil have my win 7 as a secendery boot (dual booting at the moment) so i can stil play cod in win 7 if i want. but i would like it to work in win 8.

    if someone finds a solution pls post it. i wil try some outher things. and alsow try the recomendations of the support engeneer of this forem if he has outher recomendations then the prior.

    just to explain my problem correct.

    if i play multiplayer then i start. i load into a server. and than randomly the program crashes. it has no fixed timing and just randomly crashes.

    so i can play. but i 1 time its only 2 min. a outher time its for 30 min bevore it crashes. its a weard problem.

    I really do not think so. Activision guys told me software is discontinued and support for it has ended.

    What sound card do you have? realtek drivers?

    I ask you because i had same problem with Vista and my sound card was the problem.

    I can not remember solution for it, but if you google "cod4 and realtek drivers crash" will find the problem and proper solution
