Call of duty 4 crashes in Windows 8.

my call of duty 4 doesent work in win 8. it gives me this mesage at a random time:

iw3mp.exe has stopped working

i have tryed googeling and found some ansers that dident work on my pc.

i have made no upgrades on my pc and instaled a clean win 8. jet call of duty 4 isent working on win 8 while it whas working on win 7.

i hope someone can help me fix this problem.

Hello to all

I found the solution, u will get ur cod4 crashed if u r using xfire for launching the game or if u already used it once and xfire is running in backround, it will still crashes, first att all try to exit xfire and try then, if the problem is still there u have to let pb services to run on desktop, set full control, after that is done u have to instal pbsvc again, and download pb files for Cod4 cuz Punkbuster is not supporting cod4 anymore, when u copy files to pb file of cod4 problem should be solved, those guys from Microsoft are not even tryin to help...

    Just disable Windiws firewall and pbcl.dll will stop crash in windows 8 (helps to me)

    I was wondering if where you guys have Punkbuster installed. Is it in another location or is it located on your Operating System drive? I had mine installed on my raid setup with all my other games. I then deleted it and let it re install on the os drive and now everything has been working correctly for a couple days. My G510 keyboard is actually working now and changing profiles to the games I have installed. It never did that when I had PB installed on raid drive...... Just food for thought.

    I have the same problem with battlefield 3 that's why i'm playing cod 4 again and found this, can you tel me if they can fix it or if there is a solution because it's really annoying me.

    I found shutting the firewall off during game play has been working for months.

    have not found anything else that will keep working over time
