Still years away. And obviously it should be better... That's the point of a new version.

    Windows 9 is scheduled to be released in July of 2015.  Expect to see new ads, hype and demos at tech events starting as early as this Fall as Oracle and Apple always do. Exciting times, I hope to get developing with the beta version soon.
