Still years away. And obviously it should be better... That's the point of a new version.

Well, it seems every other Windows version is bad... So if 8 was bad, 10 must be good! :)

I honestly don't know what's wrong with windows 8 or 8.1. I've been using windows 8 since the consumer preview and after I got used to the change, I didn't want to go back to windows 7. Before Windows 8 I was using a Linux Distro but with windows 8 I changed over.

Yes windows 8.1 update made it better in my opinion but I don't know why everyone says its ****. it is stable, reliable, trustworthy and I fount it easy to use once you get used to the layout change. I agree that the charms got annoying when I went to shut a page down but the charms bar popped up. looking forward to windows 9 beta.

I am a beta tester with Linux, Microsoft, Mozilla and more. I'm keen to see what is due out next.

I don't know where you are getting your info but the release of Windows nine has not yet been confirmed for Windows 9. Threshold (which may be renamed  Windows 9 is scheduled around April 2015. This will include the new designed start menu as well as other new features and should help those who have issues with the design of Windows 8.0/8.1. Hope this helps and if you need any further assistance post and we will be glad to help you.

Alas, Fred55110 brings some sanity to the discussion. Why would MS purposely develop an OS that would lose them customers and money?

I spent about 30 years using only Macs and I got my first PC in 2008 which had Win7. I had used XP in my work place but never owned a PC, and i could only do what the corporate PC wanted me to do. Then I found PC gaming. WOW!  Macs just don't do it as well.

Anyway, WIN 8? I think it is amazing! And maybe that is because I came from the Mac world and don't have the prior experience. But i realy don't understand why so many people don't like it. It does so many things so well.

I also want to thank you Fred for the beta testing you did. It's guys like you that made it work.

And thanks again for your thoughtful answer.
