The text on the screen looks grey.  Would like the words to look darker & show up more distinctly against the white background.

Hi,

From your issue description I understand that you want to  personalize the display settings so that text should appear darker on the screen.

What is the make and model of your monitor and computer?

We cannot change the Desktop font color. They are dynamic and will show white on dark backgrounds and change to white with a black shadow effect on a light background.

I would suggest you to refer to the below suggestions and check it it helps.

Method 1:

a. Press Windows key +W(It will popup Windows 8 setting charm), **** type Calibrate display color, click in the search box and hit Enter.

b.      In Display Color Calibration, click Next to continue.

c.       Follow the onscreen instructions and check if it improves the display of your monitor.

Method 2: I would suggest you to refer to the Monitor's user manual and adjust brightness, contrast to different values.

Also refer to this link:

Hope the above information is useful.

Charlene, the problem is that Microsoft owns Window which is in all our PC. You have to use it unless you use a Mac PC which I believe is run by Apple. It is a monopoly and we are suffering for it.

Yes, Donald, I understand completely. I tied to get an email address from Microsoft, but they are too big for email. They want to hook you to a phone #. When you call them you get a scam artist that try to get you to buy protection for $500. Why would I trust them with my protection, when they can not even fix a simple problem like putting back our black text instead of grey. I tried another number and they transferred me to another # which said they could help but there was a charge. Immediately, my screen filled up with a form wanting my credit card info. I have not lived for 70 years to suddenly become stupid. I think the whole Microsoft Corp is a scam. If any community members out there have an email for Microsoft, pls post so we can try to get something done about this. Group participation might make Microsoft sit up and listen.
