The system firmware has changed the processor's memory type range registers (MTRRs) across a sleep state transition (S4). This can result in reduced resume performance.

The issue remains in Windows 10 Technical Preview.

So far, 14 MS users have checked the 'Me Too' Box confirming they 'had' the same Question.

a Post by Mr. Kumar, a Community Star and MS Support Engineer, neither helps nor helped *no one. Yet it remains his sole response MS Forums users.  One would hope that another MS-C/S person might pick up this thread and provide an answer to the question; or at least add a new perspective.

What you have to realize is that they are just reading from a script. I've been going through this since getting Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.  I'm guessing somewhere along the time frame of creating the "new" window's systems, they dropped the ball. It's not even support's fault really. They are basically just here to try and comfort us with lie after lie that they have a solution to any of the problems with Windows. Unfortunately, some of us are gullible enough to believe the info given to them because perhaps maybe they were not taught critical thinking in school. What makes me even more angry is seeing quite a few users claiming that they reformatted and reinstalled. That will never fix any of these problems.

The problem is not your computer. It's the OS that is installed. It is broken in many ways. Look in event viewer on windows 8.1. When you click the custom views and administrative events button you will be greeted with an error that pertains to ringtones. Which basically means they did not do a good cleanup job for desktop and laptop users. Also, many of the errors in event viewer are unsolvable such as the disk errors. You could literally get a thousand hard drives or ssd's and the problem will still be there. 

When you do try to look for an online solution there isn't one because the link is broken. In other words Windows is broken in many ways and has been broken for a very long time. Hopefully Windows 10 will help to redeem Microsoft but I highly doubt it because they really just don't have the right personnel to fix anything. Sure, they can keep pumping out Operating systems, but it will not matter until they fix the foundation of their organization.

For those of you wondering. This is what job outsourcing causes. I'm not trying to be mean. It's just painfully true.

This is unfortunately what I also had to resort to as MS doesn't seem eager to respond or help solve this issue.  Its a pain to have to shut the monitor on and off whenever the computer is not in use but better than losing anything that happened to be up on the screen.  I use my PC for my job and there is nothing better than being in the middle of a long email, stepping away to take a phone call and coming back to find the PC sleeping and the only way to get it back is to power it off, losing everything.

That would indeed prevent the problem, but would not solve it, as the problem that we seek to be fixed, if it even really needs to be, is that which happens when coming out of sleep.
