The number pad on my brand new Windows 8 laptop is not working?!

I just bought a new Toshiba Satellite laptop with windows 8 and the side number pad doesn't work, with or without the Num lock key on. Does anyone know why?

Click on Start --> Control Panel --> Ease of Access --> Ease of Access Center --> 

Click on "Change how your keyboard works" --> Under Control the mouse with the 

keyboard, uncheck the check box "Turn ON Mouse Keys" --> Click on OK.

I tired the advice to no avail.

This worked:    Control Panel Home Screen; Ease of Access; Change how Keyboard Works;

Unclick: turn on Toggle Keys by holding down NumLock for 5 secs.

    Genius! I don't know how this setting was changed. I thought my keyboard needed replacement. THANK YOU! It worked perfectly.

    Thank you for posting the fix, I called a Toshiba tech and he said it was a software issue and he couldn't fix it because Toshiba's extended warranty only covers hardware problems and not software issues. How do you like that?

    It took me less than five minutes to fix it. He said I will try....and did something but said he was sorry it was a software issue. He loaded Linux and showed me that it worked fine ......

    Shame on you Toshiba, after having my laptop for more than 10 days and returning it without all the issues being fixed. Never buy a Toshiba anymore

    Well I had the same issue.  The number pad wasnot working 

    However I found that when I turned OFF mouse keys the darned number pad started working !!!

    So there you go.

    I am using Windows 10 Pro.
