I cant get system properties by any method

Can you upload your copy of sysdm.cpl to your skydrive, make it public, get a link and post it here, I want to download it to my pc and see if I can open it. thanks. :)

okay, I am doing some more searching I have not found anything else yet, you may have to reinstall your os, but I will get back to you shortly after some more searching.

I have run MBAM and SAS twice each both have come up clear on each occasion.  I have run MSE once and this to was clear.  I have also carried out a further two chkdsk and this still show the 4 bad sector entries.

As of yet I still cannot get the system properties to show.

Will all bad sectors founded and marked as those by chkdsk in pastbe reported during a succeeding scan?

My understanding is yes. I only run chksk if I think that a file has corrupted and I need to know why. It is not part of my maintenance routine.

 Marking off bad sectors on a hard drive takes time so be patient. Marking off does not repair a bad sector. It places pointers on the drive telling the system not to read or write to those sectors which have been damaged.

If the number of bad sectors continues to increase after you have run the procedure above several times then you should replace the drive. If an important system file is written to a bad sector you can corrupt registry hives and lose the whole contents of the drive.

On the other hand if having run chkdsk you see no more new bad sectors then the drive can work for you for years.

so keep an eye on the bad sectors, if they start to increase you will soon need a new hard drive.

Below are the last two logs from the checkdisk.  Please could you check to see if this is right in what I am doing.  I have run a scan on MSE and SAS and both are clear.   MBAM says my trial period is finished, don't know if that is right or not.  Stil no joy with getting system properties up yet.
