Recieve a BSOD after KB2859537.

There appears to be potentially three issues.  "English" appears to have a hardware incompatability issue.

Issue two appears to be a root kit that is showing up.

Issue three appears to be some that have adjusted the kernel (for whatever reason) and the patch which is replacing that adjusted kernel is causing all 32bit apps to freak out.

I still would love to open a case with someone experiencing the 32bit app problem.  Again, please email me at susan-at-msmvps.com (change the -at- to @) so I can set up a case.

So I wonder which explanation covers the situation in which a number of gamers are able to run their machines perfectly normally except for a particular game eg Rift that won't run with this update installed?

My uniderstanding RIFT has posted an update and now works with an update on their side.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.  Kernel updates bring out vendors that hook into kernel code.  It's why i always recommand holding back on non critical kernel updates to give vendors time to update their code.  A/V vendors in particular.  RIFT may have been hooking into kernel code?  Not sure.

The trouble is knowing how long to delay installing such an update, given that the problems associated with uninstalling it (if you have any) are likely to be greater than those likely to be experienced by most people  if they just hide it and don't install it at all.

At the moment I have it waiting to be installed on my two machines and a few days ago it was unchecked by MS for automatic installation implying it wasn't ready.

So for laymen like me it's impossible to know what to do for the best! It reminds me just how frustrating it is having to run an OS that needs a dozen or more  updates every month, any of which could be severely problematic - I'm sure the sale of anxiety medication must rise in the second week of the month!
