    Glad you sorted your problem out, but this is not the same one as I have with a 6B BSOD on every reboot with any F8 option.

    Worked with MS again yesterday to remove the KB package using the command line via the W7 DVD, but even having done that the BSOD still happens on reboot. Certainly looks like the damage is done on installation, prior to the reboot.

    I spent 12 hours solving this problem. What was happening: the update corrected an exploit a rootkit virus was using. Because it was fixed on reboot, the rootkit would not be able to function and thus locked up the computer from starting properly. By removing the rootkit virus, I was able to install the security update and the computer no longer crashed.

    OPTION A: For home users with Win7 SP1 or Win8 installed, no-charge support for security updates (only!) is available by calling 800-MICROSOFT (800-642-7676) in the US or 877-568-2495 in Canada. [1]

    For more information about how to contact your local Microsoft subsidiary [i.e., in other regions; e.g. the UK] for support issues relating to security updates (only!), visit the following Microsoft International Support website: http://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx?rdpath=4

    OPTION B: You may obtain Microsoft-sponsored Premium (i.e., paid) Support via the Answer Desk => http://answerdesk.microsoftstore.com [2]

    =================================================

    [1] This no-charge support is available in the UK but the phone call is not free IIRC.

    [2] $49.00 USD for "up to one hour" of remote support from third-party techs (i.e., not Microsoft Support); fee must be paid up front; no guarantees whatsoever!
