You are using it to reinstall?  Or it's the one you used to install them from the get go?  It wouldn't be your reinstall, it would be where they got their media/install from or (what often happens) where the LAST guy they went to to fix their PC got his or her media.  The code in question would not come from msdn, but from bittorrent.

Halil, the error code of 0xc0000005 application error is a sign that the system may have a pirated operating system and the kernel code with the patch is not matching up with the code on the system.  Especially look to see if xNtKrnl.exe file is on the system and that's what is loading not the expected ntoskrnl.exe

Make sure they have truly genuine systems or haven't downloaded an ISO from a less than reputable location.  Use bcedit.exe to see what kernel code is loading up.

I don't have a way to check it until the next problematic computer shows up but I am using an msdn set to install the windows and the key from the stickers on their machines. How come it might be pirated, I have no idea. I will keep that in mind with the next machine though.

I got 2 client computers effected with this problem.

First one came 2 days ago. No BSOD but the c0000005 error and almost no application is running. System Restore fails to work. I thought it was a virus or something. Backed up the machine, re-installed windows, restored the files and turned it back after fully updating windows.

Came another client yesterday with the same exact problem. Again, system restore fails to work and idiot me thought that it was a wide and fast spreading virus. I went through the same process. Backed up files, re-installed windows, restored the files back and after fully updating windows and dang, the problem was back again. That's when I realized it was something to do with the updates I applied.

Just wondering why the problem did not re-surfaced with the first machine when I fully updated it but it did with the second machine. I don't why. It might be related with the order of things I did.

2 more clients with the same problem since I reported the first 2. This time I have booted the computers into safe mode with command prompt and used wusa.exe to uninstall the update and the problem is solved.

I am still having problems to explain my clients why this is happening. I am the one who configured their computers for Automatic Updates and told them its a good thing and now this. Like a bad joke.

Let me open a case so we can determine this.  Without a support case we're guessing.  All I know is what we have cases for or what others helping in communities have showcased.

We cannot confirm what we don't have cases for.  I am passing along reports of people investingating the issues.  Again, it will be free, I will set up a call back, all I need is your phone number.  Send an email to susan-at-msmvps.com (change the -at- to @)

Also make sure you boot from non windows media and scan "under" the operating system.  Scanning from a running Windows may not find it.

Used the Norton Bootable Recovery Tool twice this week. No risks found! Talked to MS today.  They ran the SFC and established a case. A level 2 professional will contact me tomorrow. The tech on today's call seemed to think that they would tweak the update and re-release. My machine is functionally perfect, but I don't like the queasy feeling of possibly having a corrupt kernel. etc.
