how to show all programs, windows 8

ORIGINAL TITlE:Where is Programs  

   I have just got into window 8 from window XP. problem is that I cannot find programs from start. this programs had programs like accessories like calculator,  note pad, painter , ms word etc. please help. Ashi Suri

    just download and instal classic shell,and you are back to normal

    CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW TO TURN 0FF THE SAFE READING MODE???  I AM TRYING TO SUBMIT A CLAIM TO THE CITY FOR SOME FLOOD DAMAGE AND IT WONT LET ME

    Try right clicking the task bar, add a new toolbar, and point at this folder:

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

    Replace C with whatever drive you happen to have Windows installed at.

    WORKS PERFECT!!!

    It could only be better if I could actually do this on the Start Menu, but that's Microsoft's fault, not yours. (When a program accidentally expands to full-size and has no resize option -- as literally happened with the dialog while doing your step -- you can't get the toolbar to show up and (of course, therefore) can't resize the window. Clicking and dragging -- both Window borders and to make text selections, is quite literally horrible in both Windows 7 and 8!)

    Generally speaking, though, accessing the programs through a toolbar is actually FASTER than Windows 8's stupid right-click Start Menu.

    Where do you get that, and what changes does it make besides the Start Menu?
