Touch screen not working for Asus laptop

i have the Asus - 11.6" Touch-Screen Laptop - 4GB Memory - 500GB Hard Drive - Steel Gray and for some reason my touch screen is not working anymore. It worked perfectly  the other day but today it is not. Does anybody know why and what i can do to fix this problem?

p.s. i already tried restarting my laptop and shutting it down.

I had this issue with my VivoBook S400CA touch screen and fixed it today doing the following:

  1. Go to the Control Panel.
  2. Go to Troubleshooting (you may have to search for it)
  3. Click Hardware and Sound
  4. In the Device section, click Hardware and Devices
  5. Have the wizard scan your computer for hardware issues.
  6. Let the computer fix whatever issues you had.

In my case there were 2 USB input devices that were disabled that the wizard enabled for me.  The touchscreen immediately started working.  Hope this helps someone.

UPDATE:

The problem used to come back periodically.  But since updating all of my drivers a while back, the problem has not resurfaced.

    Under services I found "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service", which was marked Stopped.

    Probably Disabled not just Stopped.   FWIW I tried stopping mine and it instantly restarted.

    I quoted exactly - it said "stopped", not "disabled". Strange...

    Any further suggestions what I could do to get rid of this problem?

    I have found a fix for this issue.

    Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Troubleshooting  > System and Security

    Then just click on Resolve problems that prevent you from updating Windows and follow the on screen prompts.

    Worked like a gem for me.

    Restarting and shutting down did not help at all.

    I am having similar issues with the ASUS touchscreen laptop, but it appears to be a hardware issue. It acts like someone is repeatedly pressing down on a certain section of the touchscreen, the touchscreen then appears to become inactive, more like "not responding" because the section in question is already in use.  I have had this issue my HTC EVO 3D touchscreen in the past.  Turned out to be a defective touchscreen sensor. My touchpad still works fine, may have to alt+tab a few times to get back and forth because the repeated clicker takes me to applications in the background. I am sending it to ASUS for repair, hopefully this issue is still covered under the 1 year manufacture warranty,
