i have the Asus - 11.6" Touch-Screen Laptop - 4GB Memory - 500GB Hard Drive - Steel Gray and for some reason my touch screen is not working anymore. It worked perfectly  the other day but today it is not. Does anybody know why and what i can do to fix this problem?

p.s. i already tried restarting my laptop and shutting it down.

I had this issue with my VivoBook S400CA touch screen and fixed it today doing the following:

  1. Go to the Control Panel.
  2. Go to Troubleshooting (you may have to search for it)
  3. Click Hardware and Sound
  4. In the Device section, click Hardware and Devices
  5. Have the wizard scan your computer for hardware issues.
  6. Let the computer fix whatever issues you had.

In my case there were 2 USB input devices that were disabled that the wizard enabled for me.  The touchscreen immediately started working.  Hope this helps someone.

UPDATE:

The problem used to come back periodically.  But since updating all of my drivers a while back, the problem has not resurfaced.

For this issue, please follow below steps to enable touchscreen for a try.

    1. Move mouse to upper right to activate "Charms" and select "Search".
    2. Type "Device Manager" and open it.
    3. Click arrow to expand "Human Interface Devices".

note: for me, intermittently, I found a listing for "USB Input Device". You need to be able to see this. Try restarting and returning to Device Manager until you see this listed. Then, proceed.

    1. If there, right click "USB Input Device".
    2. Select "Enable".
    3. The screen should flash somewhat and then enable your touchscreen.
    4. Then, right click the same "USB Input Device" and choose Properties.

note: you may now see a long list of enabled devices under the HID listings after enabling the touchscreen.

    1. Go to "Power Management" menu.
    2. Uncheck the box marked "Allow computer to disable device to save power." Go to the device manager and opened the "Human Interface Devices"

Under HID- Compliant touch screen I right clicked and scanned for ''hardware changes''. This seemed to reactivate touch screen capabilities.

As this is the only correct answer it should be on the first page not buried in 2+ years of yeah I tried that and it didn't work responses!

Interesting that I bought my Asus this month (July 2015) and it still had this issue out of the box.
