Touch screen not working for Asus laptop

i have the Asus - 11.6" Touch-Screen Laptop - 4GB Memory - 500GB Hard Drive - Steel Gray and for some reason my touch screen is not working anymore. It worked perfectly  the other day but today it is not. Does anybody know why and what i can do to fix this problem?

p.s. i already tried restarting my laptop and shutting it down.

I had this issue with my VivoBook S400CA touch screen and fixed it today doing the following:

  1. Go to the Control Panel.
  2. Go to Troubleshooting (you may have to search for it)
  3. Click Hardware and Sound
  4. In the Device section, click Hardware and Devices
  5. Have the wizard scan your computer for hardware issues.
  6. Let the computer fix whatever issues you had.

In my case there were 2 USB input devices that were disabled that the wizard enabled for me.  The touchscreen immediately started working.  Hope this helps someone.

UPDATE:

The problem used to come back periodically.  But since updating all of my drivers a while back, the problem has not resurfaced.

    Sometimes you need to at least put the machine to sleep to restart its drivers when it wakes up.  Otherwise to get the effect of a full shutdown try doing a Restart.   You could also do a Shift-Restart  (or equivalently  shutdown.exe  /r  /o   )  but I don't think that would be necessary.

    It happened to me too after a nightly Windows 8 update on Feb 8 or 9. I know because when I do a restore point, the touch screen is fixed.

    If your still struggling with this and a restart isn't working try doing this:

    1. Go to the search charm and type in 'calibrate' and go to the settings tab (under the search bar)
    2. Select 'Calibrate the screen for pen and touch'
    3. On the new window press the 'Setup' button within the first box.
    4. Press anywhere on screen to activate
    5. Test to make sure it's working!

    Nope, this did not work, because the "Pen and Touch" option in the Control Panel is gone thanks to the Windows Update of Feb8 or 11th  (I believe).  When I restore back the Restore Point auto-created on Feb 8, the Pen and Touch (and my touchscreen capabilities) return.   ... obviously this means i must disable Windows Update to keep my Touchscreen, which is not a long-term viable option.  Microsoft needs to figure out what drivers they included in that Feb update that is disabling Asus S200E laptop touchscreens ... I am not the only one, many on internet are reporting this issue.
